Channel One’s sports broadcasting covers all kinds of sports that are popular in Russia — football, ice-hockey, boxing, and figure-skating. Channel One Russia features live feeds from national tournaments, international cups, continental and world championships, and Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Since the year 2005, Channel One Russia has been the only channel in the world to hold its own annual football and hockey Cups attended by major teams of Russia and the world.

Every year, prestigious Russian and international TV contests and festivals mark Channel One’s achievements with top awards and prizes.

In 2009, Channel One Russia acted as the organizer of the world’s most technologically and creatively complex TV show — the Eurovision. Several hundred tons of state-of-the-art equipment, unique special effects, excellent sound and an incredible stage set design made millions of viewers in over 40 countries across the globe hold their breath, watching the show in Moscow. According to Eurovision management, the Channel One Russia team managed to stage an unprecedented show, the best in the 54 years of the contest’s existence.
